Yoga has been around for centuries. The practice of yoga, usually performed as a group exercise, entails the subtle stretching of muscles, while concentrating on breathing to achieve a “meditative state”. Once this is achieved, the body and mind become one; reacting as a whole. Those who practice Yoga on a regular basis have experienced stress relief, freedom from physical strains and a general sense of well-being.
Because of the stress Yoga may impose on the natural growth of bones, joints and glandular tissues, it is not recommended for those less than 17 years of age. We also do not recommend women who are pregnant or menstruating to practice Yoga, because of the effects it may have on the uterus. A breathing technique called Lamaze, may help those, who cannot perform Yoga, reach a meditative state.
We recommend Yoga for those suffering from depression, muscle pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, high blood pressure, arthritis and fibromyalgia.
Our clinics offer beginner and advanced classes, taught by a certified Yoga instructor. For more information on our Yoga program, please contact one of our healthcare representatives by filling out an “immediate response form” or calling one of our convenient locations.
